Hi David, I am researching the family of :
Richard Tunstead who was born in Ireland, around 1810.
He married Rachel Scanlon, b. around 1812 also from Ireland.
They emmigrated to Newark, N. J. around 1848 with their children:
- Thomas Tunstead,
- Dora Tunstead,
- Rebecca Tunstead and
- Mary Tunstead.
- While living in New Jersey they had two daughters, Sarah
Tunstead and
- Hannah Tunstead.
In 1861 the moved to West Gwillimbury Twp. Simcoe County Ontario,
Canada,
where they lived until their deaths. I am trying to find the ancestors
of
Richard Tunstead. If any of this fits with your research, please
contact
me. I found your E-mail address and the Tunstead name in Roots.

Hello Glenda Schneider June 21, 1996
... I suspect your Tunsteads probably descend from the Derbyshire
Tunsteads.
It seems likely that younger sons of Derbyshire families went to
Ireland
at various times. ...
British peoples who immigrated to America between the Revolution (1790)
and
the American Civil War (1860) like my Blackwell ancestor, are often
called
"mill english"
